Spirit & Truth of Illinois is a community of Catholic young adults ages 18 to 39.
Our mission is to bring young adults into relationship with Christ through worship of Jesus in
the Blessed Sacrament, study of Church teachings, Sacred Scripture and celebration of Catholic
traditions while forming a community of life-giving relationships.
I think the format for Spirit and Truth is so wonderful because it affirms Christ as the essential part of our spiritual growth. We begin the meetings with a short study or lesson on either a Sacred Scripture, Magisterial Teaching, Apostolic Tradition, or other Catholic tradition where we encounter Christ's presence as the fullness of God's Revelation. While we encounter Jesus in this way our minds and hearts begin to open and see Jesus as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6) in whom our purpose is found.
After the study we move into worship, adoration, and prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament where each of us are invited to recognize Christ as our Lord and cultivate our relationship with him. By taking time out each week we allow Christ the opportunity to teach each of us in a very personal way.
After our prayer time is over we come together and witness to one another by sharing our own inspirations, shortcomings, questions, and petitions as a community. It is such a blessing to be in the room as God does amazing things.
